Edith Moretz Widener was surrounded by close family when she passed away on Friday, January 14th, 2022, at the age of 65.
Edith was born on August 23, 1956, to Odell and Beulah Moretz in Boone, NC. Even though she lived in Winston Salem as an adult, she was always a mountain girl at heart. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Edith earned her license and became an enrolled agent with the IRS. She successfully ran 1st Choice Tax and Accounting for years. Even though she worked long hours year-round, she always made time for her family, whom she loved dearly. Edith was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart, and her faith was evident in everything that she did. She had a passion for people and is described by family as having a servant's heart. She didn't know what it meant to turn someone away, her heart and home was always open to those in need. If you met Edith, she was your friend. And she was the best kind of friend to have. She was truly the definition of a selfless person, and her generosity didn't have a limit. She was also known for her cooking, and all of her family and friends say it is the absolute best. Edith loved to travel and was able to take many trips with her family. She was never happier than when she was able to spend time with those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Deena and Chris Hutchinson and Zachary Widener; her grandchildren, Laura, Dominic, Ela, Jamie, Austin, Brianna and Abby. She is also survived by two sisters, Viola Greene and Eva Jordan; two brothers, Forrest Moretz and Kyle Moretz; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Janel Moretz and brothers Nelson and Boyd Moretz.
Funeral services for Edith Moretz Widener will be conducted Saturday morning, February 5, 2022 at 11 o'clock at Bethany Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Laurel Weant and Rev. Tim Dunn. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
