    OBITUARY Watauga Democrat & Jefferson Post
    
    Hazel Cooke Miller, age 96, of Milt Houck Road, Todd, died Saturday
    evening, February 2, 2008 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born November 20, 1911 in Damascus, Virginia to John Douglas and Alice Shuler Cooke. Mrs. Miller was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she served as the choir director for more than 40 years. She was a housewife and homemaker.
    
    Mrs. Miller is survived by; two daughters, Peggy Greer and husband Bill and Janelle Yates and husband Harry, all of Boone; one son, Ronald Dean Miller of Todd; two grandchildren, Pam Summers and husband David of Valdosta, Georgia and Randall Miller of Chicago, Illinois; and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Neal Cooke of Winston-Salem; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Cooke of Winston-Salem and Gladys Jean Cooke of Salt Lake City, Utah.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Balma Reece Miller, one son, Paul Leon Miller and his wife Colleen, her great-granddaughter, Stephanie Noelle Miller, two sisters and four brothers.
    
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at Zion United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Brenda Beshears. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 until 11 o'clock. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Zion United Methodist Church in care of Bradley Scott, 303 Zion Methodist Church Road, Todd, NC 28684.
    
    The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes.
