Mrs. Mildred “Millie” Thompson Flowers, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 after a long illness at Watauga Medical Center. Born August 22, 1923 in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of late Joseph Carl and Ruth O’Quinn Thompson. She was pre-deceased by her husband George Arthur Flowers, Jr. Millie worked along side her husband at Flowers Photography. She was a member of Boone United Methodist Church and the Blue Ridge Garden Club.
Millie is survived by her son; Arthur Flowers and wife Beth, and grandson Ian, daughter Cecile Flowers Rbeihat, granddaughters; Erin and Megan all of Raleigh, NC and daughter Patricia Wright of South Carolina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Millie Flowers will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Boone United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Dr. George Naff. Entombment will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service from noon until 1 o’clock at Boone United Methodist Church. The family respectfully requests no flowers and suggests memorials to Boone united Methodist Church Building Fund, 471 New Market Boulevard, Boone, NC 28607 or to Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation Activity Fund, 211 Milton Brown Heirs Road, Boone, NC 28607.
